The lab concentrates its activity on the functional and structural study of proteins and protein complexes from pneumococcus (Streptococcus pneumoniae) involved in interactions with its human host, in cell wall metabolism and division, and in the resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics.
The structural aspects of our studies are carried out in collaboration with the crystallography (LPM, LCCP), NMR (LRMN), and Biophysics (LBM) labs of the IBS.
The laboratory manages the Rhône-Alpes Génopôle RoBioMol platform of automates dedicated to cloning and the production of recombinant proteins. Contact: Thierry Vernet
This scanning electron micrograph illustrates the main research themes of our lab. We can see the cell envelope of a dividing pneumococcus (diplococcus), which adheres to the surface of a human epithelial cell.
