The GSY (Synchrotron Group)Responsable : Jean-Luc FERRER Historic The GSY has been created in 1991 to fulfil several tasks : the building, the working and the improvement of the French beamlines at the ESRF synchrotron for protein crystallography. First, the GSY had in charge the D2AM beamline, shared with the physicist community, and then in order to satisfy the increasing demand of beamtime, the FIP beamline (French beamline for Investigation of Proteins). FIP is dedicated exclusively to protein crystallography and has been available to users since 1999. This is a CRG (Collaborative Research Group) beamline (60 % of beamtime devoted only for the French community) particularly adapted for anomalous diffraction experiments (SAD, MAD).
