CELL DIVISION

Team leader: Dimitrios Skoufias

Our team is studying the mechanisms involved in the equal distribution of chromosomes during mitosis and how these mechanisms are regulated by centromere/kinetochore associated proteins. Our work is coupled with studies on small molecule inhibitors which exert their anti-mitotic function by targetting key processes involved in cell division.

Research topics

- Activation of spindle assembly checkpoint,
- Chromosome passenger proteins,
- Mechanisms of action of small molecule inhibitors with anti-mitotic activities.

Techniques

- siRNA mediated suppression of protein expression,
- Confocal microscopy,
- Flow cytometry,
- Molecular biology,
- Protein purification,
- Biochemical analysis,
- FPLC.
