On June 15, 2022, Juan C. Fontecilla-Camps (former group leader of the IBS Metalloprotein Group) joined the Chilean Academy of Sciences as a foreign corresponding member. This distinction testifies to his fundamental contribution to the structural biology of proteins, especially metalloproteins. As a member of the Academy, he will have to participate in their activities of diffusion of science in Chile.
