I am a physiobiochemist and metabolic scientist of photosynthetic organisms. After a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Roland Douce in the Laboratory of Plant Cellular Physiology in Grenoble, I did three postdoctoral stages in the United States (University of Louisiana), then in Switzerland (Universities of Bern and Lausanne). This is where my interest in lacustrine microalgae (Diatoms) and extremophilic microorganisms began, transferring my knowledge of plants to these models.
In this logic, I joined the Structural Biology Institute of Grenoble as a CNRS research fellow with a RQTH. For 8 years, I studied the physico-chemical and physiological specificities of halophilic Archaea, including Halobacterium salinarum which lives in extreme conditions of saline concentration. Then, I joined J. Timmins team where I was given the responsibility to study the impact of radiations (UVC and gamma ray) on the organisation and dynamics of the nucleoids of one of the most radioresistant bacteria known to date : Deinococcus radiodurans.
