Science Festival 2025

During the 2025 edition of the Science Festival, IBS brought science within reach of young people. The program included fun workshops for CM2 pupils, live experiments in its laboratories, and interactive videoconferences for high school students—sparking curiosity and inspiring vocations from an early age.

On October 6 and 7, 2025, IBS immersed 95 high school students from Grenoble (Mounier and CLEPT high schools) and La Côte-Saint-André (Berlioz high school) in the fascinating world of proteins. The program featured hands-on workshops in NMR, electron microscopy, microbiology, and crystallography, allowing students to manipulate, observe, and understand matter at the atomic scale. It was a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge research tools and technologies.

IBS also organized interactive videoconferences to introduce research careers to 120 high school pupils from Grenoble, Valence, L’Isle-d’Abeau, Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, and Annecy. Led by a researcher and a PhD student, these sessions provided insight into academic paths, daily life in the lab, and scientific career opportunities, helping students make informed choices for their university cursus.

The “Discover the awesome world of biology” initiative took place on October 7, 9, and 10, 2025, directly in primary schools, reaching 137 CM2 pupils through hands-on activities focused on living systems, including an introduction followed by an experimental workshop (fluorescent proteins or banana DNA extraction).

Finally, four PhD students independently contributed to running the ARCANE & GRAL stands at the Parvis des Sciences.

For over 20 years, IBS has been committed to promoting and popularizing science among young audiences, organizing events that encourage interaction between scientists and students. A big thank you to the more than 35 volunteers for their dedication, motivation, and inspiration once again this year !
