We warmly congratulate Martin Blackledge, CNRS Research Director at the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS), on his election as a Fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (ISMAR).
This international distinction recognizes Martin Blackledge’s major scientific contributions to the field of magnetic resonance, and in particular his pioneering work on the study of intrinsically disordered proteins using NMR spectroscopy. His research has contributed to the development of integrative approaches combining experimental data, ensemble methodologies and computational frameworks to describe the structure and dynamics of these highly flexible proteins. ISMAR also highlights the impact of this work on understanding the role of protein disorder in essential biological processes, including viral replication, cellular signalling and protein function in general.
Election as an ISMAR Fellow is a recognition by the international magnetic resonance community of a scientist’s significant contributions to the field, both through their research and through their efforts to advance and promote magnetic resonance. A maximum of four new Fellows are elected each year by the existing ISMAR Fellows.
This new distinction adds to several international recognitions received by Martin Blackledge throughout his career, including the 2024 Ivano Bertini Award from Instruct-ERIC, which recognized his pioneering work on intrinsically disordered proteins using NMR, and an ERC Advanced Grant awarded in 2019 for the DynamicAssemblies project.
