Dans une société en profonde mutation, la chimie doit intégrer les dimensions sociales et conomiques de ces procédés, mais aussi la notion d’éco-responsabilité. Dans ce contexte, le laboratoire de chimie bio-inspirée et innovations écologiques (UMR 5021 CNRS - Univ. Montpellier) développe une nouvelle filière verte, qui s’appuie sur une innovation de rupture en chimie, appelée écocatalyse ou catalyse écologique. Son originalité repose un concept inhabituel : combiner Nature, écologie, chimie, recherche et industrie.
Ce rapprochement ne va pas de soi. L’objectif de ces recherches visent pourtant à démontrer qu’il est possible d’intégrer activité économique, optimisme technologique et recherche de stratégies environnementales innovantes comme un véritable vecteur du développement durable.

Claude Grison is Director of Research at the CNRS and Director of the Bio-inspired Chemistry and Ecological Innovations Laboratory. She is at the origin of the Ecocatalyse® concept, which uses plants to extract metals from polluted soil. Her research activities have led to the creation of two companies, Bioinspir and Laboratoires Bioprotection. Claude Grison is the author of 178 publications and books, 45 patents and 200 conferences. Her work has been rewarded with 13 scientific prizes, including the European Inventor Award 2022, the Price A. Joannides Prize of the Académie des Sciences 2016, the Price Homme-Nature of the Sommer Foundation 2016 and the CNRS Innovation Medal 2014. Claude Grison is a member of the Académie Nationale de Pharmacie and the European Academy of Sciences.
