Soirée du Vivant : Récepteurs neuronaux : comment les poisons trouvent leur cible
Date
Jeudi 12 mars de 18h30 à 22h30
Localisation
La Casemate, Grenoble
This outreach event will feature an interactive presentation, a quiz and open discussions, all accompanied by vegetarian tapas, for a convivial event open to the general public.
Hugues Nury, CNRS researcher at the Institute of Structural Biology, will present the fascinating world of snake venoms, plant alkaloids and other modern insecticides, which exert their effects by targeting specific neural receptors. He will begin by providing general information to answer essential questions such as : why are some substances deadly in tiny doses while others remain harmless ? How does a neural receptor recognise its ‘poison’ ?
He will then present the ANR “Pesti Penta” project, which he coordinates, and which aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of action of insecticides on insect neural receptors. This research combines structural biology, molecular dynamics and electrophysiology to explore the interactions between different molecules and their biological targets.
Ultimately, the goal of this fundamental research is to contribute to the development of more effective and targeted insecticides.
