I obtained PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University, NTU Singapore. My thesis concerned structural and dynamics studies of non-canonical secondary structures (such as G-quadruplexes) of nucleic acids. Following which I worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at NTU for one year, where I studied the interaction mechanism of an organic polymer (having promising potential application as retinal prosthetic device) with biological cells and possible ways to improve their interaction.

My current post-doctoral research at IBS is comprised of studying the mechanistic details of several photo-transformation pathways in photoconvertible fluorescent proteins (PCFPs) using a combination of NMR spectroscopy and Fluorescence microscopic techniques. The ultimate goal is to design newer PCFP variants with enhanced brightness and photostability for their use in single molecule localization microscopic techniques such as PALM.
