My fascination with microscopy began during my studies, particularly during my internship at the VU, where I characterized the behavior of fluorescent proteins (FPs) in yeast. The diversity in their photophysical behavior amazed me. This curiosity carried through to my PhD in the PIXEL team, where I investigated the complex behavior of FPs to improve quantitative single-molecule microscopy. Currently, I am continuing this research in a short postdoc, focused on unraveling the dark secrets of fluorescent proteins.
