Presentation of the Moreau team

Team leader : Christophe Moreau

The main research topic of the team is the development of the "Ion Channel-Coupled Receptor" (ICCR) technology by attaching G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) to an ion channel (Kir6.2). Binding of ligands (agonists or antagonists) onto the GPCR is translated into an electrical signal by the ion channel. This technology offers several advantages : real-time recordings, label-free, signal correlated with ligand concentrations, independent of intracellular signaling pathways, suites to integration in micro- and nano-electronic devices.
More recently, the team is studying olfactory receptors from vertebrates and insects.
Two lines of research are conducted in parallel : 1) understanding the molecular mechanisms by structure-function studies ; 2) developping applications of these membrane proteins as biosensors.
